Physical and chemical characteristics
A slightly yellow to brownish-yellow transparent viscous liquid, soluble in isopropanol, toluene, xylene, paraffin oil, DOP and other organic solvents; emulsifiable in water and compatible with both weakly polar and polar materials. Its relative stability to moisture makes it ideal for fillers containing water (over 2% moisture) or polymer solutions.
Application
1. In plastic composites it is mainly used to treat fillers such as calcium carbonate and clay, improving impact strength and flow; with carbon black filling it improves electrical conductivity.
2. In coatings it is mainly used in water-rich resins such as acrylic coatings. It improves the dispersion of silica and other inorganic fillers in the polymer, prevents settling, allows higher filler loadings and improves the water, fire and corrosion resistance of the film.
3. In inorganic mineral fillers, treatment with this product improves filler dispersion in polymers and allows higher filler loadings in coatings or composites.
4. It can couple inorganic fillers with organic resins and also couple organic resins of different polarity.
